Georgia is considered a "landlord-friendly" state. What does this mean for Georgia tenants?
Essentially, it means you may have to fight to maintain your right to a safe and comfortable rental space. There are no standardized bylaws or statutes to evaluate and monitor landlord-tenant compliance obligations, including discriminatory rent increases and leasing practices. Consequently, there has been a perpetual increase of new construction projects and predatory property ownership statewide.
While the Georgia real estate industry continues to blossom, hardworking tenants suffer gross negligence due to lack of accountability by landlord. Unless you have a personal attorney on standby, financial surplus, or a lot of extra time to spare, you risk tenant rental abuse on any given day.
Toxic landlord-tenant relationships directly impact your quality of life. Enough is enough ... fair housing and treatment is not a privilege but a tenant right and it must be defended as such.
